AS part of their commitment to the environment and to renewable energy, building contractors William Skinner & Son have installed a 6kW wind turbine at their St Quivox headquarters on the perimeter of Prestwick Airport.
SWITCH-ON: William Skinner & Son managing director Sandy Cunningham, chairman John Quinton, project manager Derek Saunderson and Ayr MSP John Scott switch on the wind turbine.
Renewable Energy
William Skinner & Son now have a large number of Solar Heating clients, mainly in Scotland, and have demonstrated their commitment to the wider field of Renewable Energy by installing a 6kW ‘Proven’ wind turbine at their HQ in St. Quivox, Ayr and including PV panels in the design for their proposed office extension.
The aim now is to offer general advice on the suitability of any of the available renewable energy techniques, or any mix of them, to solve individual energy supply problems, and they are developing a consortium of available local expertise to help them develop that. >>>
Derek Saunderson and John Nimmo of William Skinner & Son supervise another successful domestic solar energy installation at a house in Ayrshire.
>>> Part of their promotion will be presentations in schools, following a successful recent session at Kyle Academy. Renewable energy is now a topic in the GCSE syllabus and, with the present sharpening focus on both climate change and dwindling conventional fuel reserves, it is certain to be an examination subject.
William Skinner is offering to help schools to develop their understanding of Climate Change and the significance of Renewable Energy as a way of tackling that problem. Through a practical presentation and guided discussion it will also contribute to the understanding of the principle of energy conservation as the route to the better fuel use and energy conversion we need.
Individual academies, schools, colleges and training organisations will be offered a free presentation. But anyone interested is invited to contact Derek Saunderson directly on 01292 671188 or e-mail: dsaunderson@williamskinner.co.uk
